On their third record French DEEP IN HATE move another step away from their Death Metal roots and release a complex and skillful Deathcore record. Chronicles Of Oblivion offers eight tracks, short and brought to the point quickly, hitting the listener with a brutal impact. DEEP IN HATE put much more groove into their new material, mostly ranging in mid-tempo fields. Only the drums accelerate, while guitars remain moderate.
Chronicles Of Oblivion is in fact a strong and much elaborated album but it also sounds a bit like any and got so overly smooth and clean produced that hardly anything gets stuck in your ears. First songs just rush past without leaving any impression. The faster Altars Of Lies, New Republic and especially The Unheard Prayers catch attention, for a moment. Wingless Gods features guest vocals by Sven de Caluwé (Aborted) but can’t do it better either. Too bad. Less perfectionism and a plus of rough edges and charisma would have done much more.
