I guess you have to be in the right mood to listen to this album. Do not listen to this when you have a hangover or if you are irritated - it will make it worse. If your ears are fine tuned to the sounds of DEATHSPELL OMEGA you might appreciate their latest offering, Drought. The French surrealists produced a very short 21 minutes and 6 tracks album, but it comes down heavy on you. It crushes you, it makes you wonder if you want to listen to it again, and you may give it a few more spins.
The first track, Salowe Vision, is doom, sludge, slow, crushing, only picking up at the end. The specific guitar sound on Fiery Serpents breaks up the song nicely and carries over to Scorpions & Drought. They definitely have a special feeling and sound that is recognizable.
As you can tell, the lyrical theme of this short album is the desert, and it heaves, oozes oppressing heat and humidity. It will leave you drained. I could not find access to this particular DEATHSPELL OMEGA album, but I’m sure it will find people that appreciate it, hence the 7 points from me.
