Finally! Three years after the release of Beneath German death metallers SOLICITUDE come up with a new full-length entitled Alteration. And they surely can top the predecessor! Where Beneath left a good impression Alteration is even turning up punch and power. Already opener 21st Century Disease grooves so much that I have to give out a warning for flagging necks.
Stylistically nothing has changed that much: slightly Thrash influenced Death Metal with massively low-tuned guitars gets served in a mid-tempo massacre. I just can repeat: it grooves as fucking hell!
To add necessary variety fast parts gets blend in (Broken Hard, The Nameless) as well as some great bass line as in The Rebel Angel.
Those who know SOLICITUDE for some time should be familiar with the singing of Axel Decker. New ones will at least raise an eyebrow. But on the other hand, especially the singing adds a recognizable charm to the band… To set accents Axel also goes down with his voice in Last Sin, offering deep and evil growls. Great stuff!
But I also have to admit that first euphoria fades with every new run, since lengthy passages gets clearly noticed. Solos could tolerate some polish too.
All in all Alteration is a great album to headbang to! Worthy 7.5 points!
