How to begin
this review? Well, actually Back In Blood,
the new album of the German Groovedeathers DEBAUCHERY
would be an 8 point album. So why did it receive only 6 points?
That’s very simple. In first line it’s the guilt of
their record label AFM Records! The promo copy of Back
In Blood starts like this: Two songs as full versions,
namely Lords Of Battle and Back In Blood. And
these two tracks are really great and show the reason so many
fans call DEBAUCHERY the German answer to Six
Feet Under. But after that my dilemma begins! Lords Of Battle
sounds for the second time and suddenly it turns into Baptise
This World In Blood. Then it works like this until the end
of the promo copy! There my fun ends! There are 30 - 40 seconds
left per song. I don’t really know how to review an album
in case the record company works against me as a journalist. The
finished version of Back In Blood contains
a bonus CD including seven cover versions. The following songs
of other artists have been covered: Heavy Duty (Judas
Priest), Kings Of Metal (Manowar), You Got Me Rocking
(???), War Is Coming (Six Feet Under), I Can’t
Dance (Genesis), Weißes Fleisch (Rammstein)
and 8 Days A Week (Beatles). The last three songs are
also on the promo copy. And to be honest, none of them can make
me smile. This means one point less because of the shortened songs
and another one point less because of the stupid cover versions!
