„Men want to be treated tightly“ [Wiebke]

Dajana] The Friday starts early. As soon as the sun is up it gets hot in the tent and pushes us out. But surprisingly we feel handover-free and clear :)

:: pics ::

[Dajana] Ok, rise and shine! Breakfast and out for a morning Grindcore-treatment. :: GUTALAX :: (repacing Jig-Ai) deliver everything around the… loo. Pounding rhythms, squeaks and grunts (actually that are just some guttural tones distorted) entertain a motley crowd that is up for any nonsense. Yes, I have a blast *laughs* Yes, those Czech are batshit insane. Amazingly insane… hahaha… I like!
[BRT] The muisc is utmost nonsense but its entertaining value to the first breakfast beer is priceless. The band’s body-wrap looked… erm… shitty. Intentionally I guess… ;)

[Dajana] Grindcore the second. Up for :: MAGRUDERGRIND :: And they do it the serious way, with an unbelievable force and power and deadly rigor. I’m stunned. The drummer is truly insane!
[BRT] Rad! First highlight! MAGRUDERGRIND play old school Crust/Grindcore with a drummer beyond everything. Pure energy! Awesome! That’s the way we can go on…

[Dajana] Right after the first and only change in the running order happens due to traffic jams. So it’s first :: DR. LIVING DEAD :: on stage I see live for the first time with the new singer. Besides we get their known brand of Swedish Crossover/Thrash Metal. Not that much original but much entertaining ;)
[BRT] Fancy a little time travel? Going back for around 25 years maybe? When Crossover was still meant to be a great mixture of Metal and Hardcore? Here we go: DR. LIVING DEAD exactly deliver that style and remind me of S.O.D., Suicidal Tendencies and Nuclear Assault. Only the singing is a weak point, too monotonous. Thumbs up though!

[Dajana] And now we get :: GRAVEYARD ::. I actually expected the Stoner rockers…
[BRT] No, that’s the Spanish Death metallers playing an old school Autopsy-like style as it’s said…
[Dajana] Yep, so they do. Pretty much so. Death Fucking Metal!
[BRT] I expected more. I found them boring and expressionless, especially when compared with the following band…

[Dajana] …And that’s :: COFFINS :: I only knew them by hearsay, never saw them playing live before. And the Japanese cats just blew me away! How fucking great are they? Groove till death with a doomy note and most of all the voice of singer Uchino: blistering! AMAZING! I’m stunned! A revelation. And definitely THE surprise of PARTY SAN 2013! I love COFFINS! Too bad they did not have some nice tees for ladies there…
[Seda] To be honest I was deeply impressed by this little man from Japan. I don’t think it is the Whisky (he was clutching all the time and sipping from), and size does not has to do anything with voice as well, but his voice was just… He’s a little monster… uhg! ;)
[BRT] COFFINS is my discovery of the festival as well. Absolutely great old school Death Metal with a lot of Doom inside. Maybe Autopsy meets Celtic Frost? That those singing guy could still walk the festival area afterwards and take photos with the fans… Respect!
[Dajana] Generally the band emerged to be utmost close to fans. All members walked about afterwards, talked to fans, signed stuff and took tons of photos. Much likeable :) Oh, I need there CDs too…

[Dajana] Also :: SHINING :: played a surprisingly, almost disappointing tame show like Carpathian Forest the day before. No puking, no schlong, no masturbation. Singing (even if sort of off-key) and performance instead… it’s odd, isn’t it?
[Seda] Niklas Kvarforth was just strolling around and spitting on photographers…
[Dajana] Yep, but that’s so known, also his threats towards certain fans… trivial.
[BRT] Big expectations, big disappointment. Undifferentiated sound, poor singing, no charisma and a nothing of atmosphere. That’s nothing compared to what you get on CD.

[Dajana] There actually could not go anything wrong with :: GRAND SUPREME BLOOD COURT :: If you got to see a band with Martin van Drunen you always get some brutal Death Metal yet nothing that differs much from Asphyx or Hail Of Bullets…
[BRT] Is the world in need of another Martin van Drunen band? I think no. It’s all said with Asphyx and Hail Of Bullets. GRAND SUPREME BLOOD COURT have great slow motion parts but the fast ones are just as any and bore likewise fast. To quote a friend: “Quite lame, ain’t them?”

[BRT] In the tent newcomer :: WOUND :: : rocked the stage and convinced with Swedish styled Death Metal a lá At The Gates, great performance and varied singing. Wow… all hell was let loose!

[Dajana] Next band is another one I learnt to appreciate a lot :) :: ANAAL NATHRAKH :: Those Brits are completely nuts, played a crazily intensive show. And I loved the epic singing… To quote the band’s info: “...to be the soundtrack for armageddon, the audial essence of evil, hatred and violence, the true spirit of necro taken to its musical extremes.” Yep, I totally agree. Funnily fans nagged about the sound and screamed for a change the band picked up and told to the stage sound tech. Said Dave: „Apparently the guitars are too low and the drums are too high. Sort it out, man!”. Well, with average success.
[Seda] Just awesome! I’m not a fan of this kind of music but I have to admit, the band was worth watching.
[BRT] Whoa… what a massacre! A completely hyped up mix of Black/Death and Grindcore with cool melodies, especially when it comes to the refrains. Additionally we got a very lively stage show. Only the sound was muddy.
Setlist: In The Constellation Of The Black Widow, The Blood-Dimmed Tide, In Coelo Quies, Tout Finis Ici Bas, Of Fire, And Fucking Pigs, More Of Fire Than Blood, The Lucifer Effect, Todos Somos Humanos, Volenti Non Fit Iniuria, The Destroying Angel, Forging Towards the Sunset

[BRT] Back to the tent to see ::: DESERTED FEAR :: Again finest Death Metal with melodic guitar lines, great sound and great atmosphere. And again At The Gates shine through. If there is anything alive, than the German Death Metal underground! Oh, and FDA Rekotz rulez!

[Dajana] No rest for the wicked… we are still on the Swedish-styled Death Metal trip, at full force with :: VOMITORY ::who play their every last show in Germany, as they have announced to split up at the end of the year. Too bad… And they wrecked everything…

[Dajana] Finally time for a breath, musically, but even more intensive. And now they got me ( I know it took a long time) :: PRIMORDIAL :: The intro caused goose bumps already and then PRIMORDIAL play such an unbelievably emotional and mesmerizing show. I’m. Totally. Blown. Away!
[Seda] I never get enough of PRIMORDIAL and like to see them playing live again and again, even if it is the 9123192th time. It’s sundown and Alan’s voice and his charisma makes our hearts beat, while the songs conjure pure energy. Stunning show! Epical, heathenish, breathtaking!
[BRT] Insane. Magic. Epical. Impressing. Gooseflesh I got with the intro too. Then I fall for the charisma of this great band. To do it the girls way: I’m. Totally. Blown. Away!
Setlist: Intro, Gods To The Godless, No Grave Deep Enough, As Rome Burns, Bloodied Yet Unbowed, Coffin Ships, Empire Falls

[Seda] :: UNLEASHED :: is one of the best Swedish Death Metal bands, since 1990. Loved that show!
[Dajana] I spontaneously get a special noise in mind Johnny does, and those lovely guys from Powermetal.de I cannot wrap into letters nor repeat… ;)
[BRT] On the contrary to the masses I especially like their newer albums. And UNLEASHED know how to rock the festival. Only the long breaks between the songs get slightly on nerves.

[Dajana] To be honest I got a problem with :: DYING FETUS :: They are without a doubt one of those extremely skilled and excellent bands out there. And their shows are intense in a small club with all the mosh-pits going on. But to watch them playing on this huge open air stage like nailed and pasted, not moving a bit was rather boring.
[BRT] Technically perfect but playing sort of emotionless. And yes, lacking of any action on stage made the show quickly boring. Too bad.

[Seda] For many years I was waiting to see :: HYPOCRISY :: playing live. Finally the day has come (or the night). And there he stands! Peter Tagtgren. Sandwiched by two flames. I enjoy an extremely fantastic show while dealing with my tipsiness. And I’m longing for songs from The Final Chapter album. Ok, first new and older stuff… And then, during the encore… Peter makes me happy and I feel like pushed back to the old days, back then, 1997. Now I can happily fall asleep :)
[Dajana] Yep, I was much looking forward to HYPOCRISY too. I missed them on tour in spring an dthat was my only chance this year to catch them live on stage. And they are still a force! Great show!
Setlist: End Of Disclosure, Tales Of Thy Spineless, Fractured Millennium, The Eye, Fire In The Sky, Necronomicon, 44 Double Zero, Warpath // Roswell 47, Adjusting The Sun, Eraser

[Dajana] Before I crept into my sleeping back I used the window of opportunity and speeded to the shower right after HYPOCRISY and got a HOT one :) I did not go out for party anymore and did some administrative things instead. The mag you know…
